At Wind River, we’re building a simpler, freer way of life. One that removes the clutter to make room for the things that really matter. Our mission is to create an attainable housing alternative of the highest quality design and craftsmanship, with a spirit of integrity, innovation, and stewardship.

We strongly support innovative housing solutions for everyone. Last month Salt Lake City Mayor, Erin Mendenhall, announced steps forward in plans for a tiny home village for people experiencing homelessness in the community. “An investment in deeply affordable housing development, a key component in making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring,” said Laurie Hopkins from Shelter the Homeless, who also spoke at the press conference. The village is designed to house 400–500 people on 30–40 acres and is timed to open this fall and provide secure housing during the winter months. Not only are they thinking about physical housing for the residents, but also the social benefits of community and access to social services. Kudos to Mayor Mendenhall and the other strategic partners in this initiative.

We love to see innovation in housing, and we need more of it! Here are a couple other communities and organizations that are also doing cool and important work toward alternative housing options for people in need.
